Mary Lou Kelley has been a notable leader in retail and e-commerce for over 25 years, having led e-commerce businesses in many phases of industry evolution – from a start-up in the 1990s to Best Buy, where she led the multi-billion dollar online business for the world’s largest consumer electronics retailer.
She possesses deep expertise in digital transformation, omnichannel retail, customer experience, technology strategy, and strategic planning, and has demonstrated a keen ability to drive profitable growth through digital and technology innovation.
Ms. Kelley most recent operating role was President of E-commerce for Best Buy Co., Inc. where, as a direct report to the CEO, she led its digital and technology strategy and efforts, and its online business through and its apps.
During her tenure at Best Buy, Ms. Kelley drove remarkable results including 2016 online sales growth of +21% to $4.8 billion, material profitability improvement and market share growth. She led the complete rebuild of Best Buy’s technology platform, and significant advancement of its omnichannel digital customer experience.
Ms. Kelley previously was Senior Vice President of E-commerce for Chico’s FAS, where she led the e-commerce businesses for its three women’s apparel brands – Chico’s, White House Black Market, and Soma Intimates. She also held positions of increasing leadership at L.L.Bean Inc., Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc., and McKinsey and Company.
Ms. Kelley serves on the boards of Vera Bradley (women’s handbags and accessories), and Finning Intl. (the world's largest Caterpillar equipment dealer), where her digital and commercial expertise are leveraged to help shape overall strategy within the context of the impact of technology and digital disruption and transformation. Ms. Kelley is also an advisor to the senior leadership of Falabella Retail, the largest department store retailer in South America, where she is focused on its e-commerce and omnichannel strategies.
